Reinforcements needed in the playground for Children in Need Day!

To make sure the excitement of Children in Need Day didn't get out of control some of the playground supervisors took the law into their own hands and donned police jackets, hats and truncheons. There were also some sheriffs on standby just in case.
It seemed to do the trick as everyone was on their best behaviour with lots of the children taking the opportunity to dress up to join in the fun. Thankfully the police truncheons were never called upon!

Meet the Children in Need Masterminds

Taking a few seconds out of their busy schedule are the two architects of this years P7 Children in Need extravaganza. P7 class teachers Mr Hill and Mrs Coltherd have harnessed the incredible energy and resourcefulness of all the P7 children to put on another spectacular mix of games and activities for the whole school to enjoy raising over £1600 in the process.

Christmas Card Project raises over £600

Miss Spence and Mrs Gray busy sorting the cards for collection

Thanks to a very positive response to our Christmas Card fundraiser £600 has been raised for school funds. Over 7400 cards and 1300 gift tags were ordered in total!
The cards and gift tags arrived this week in plenty of time for the Christmas rush creating a big headache for Mrs Gray and Miss Spence in the office who had the big task of sorting them all out for collection.
Special thanks must also go to our Art Teacher, Mr Hodgson, for helping the children to produce their pictures. As a result this year friends and family of Papdale children can look forward to something a bit special at Christmas when opening their cards!

Chess Club

Chess Club, which runs during  terms 2 and 3 restarted again with  20 children attending on week 2, including some who were new to the game.
It is a great  opportunity for the children to  hone their chess skills, teach others who are learning the game and catch up with their friends.
While chess might be seen a thoughtful, solitary, quiet pursuit the Papdale version certainly doesn't fit these stereotypes with lots of conversation and lively debate going on while they play.

Check mate perhaps?

Just in case you forget why we're here!

Pudsey visits Papdale

Pudsey directs operations at the Business Meeting
Monday 9th November will need to be renamed 'Teddy Bear Day' at Papdale because no sooner had 'Buddy' Bear been introduced to the Business Meeting than Pudsey Bear arrived.
Pudsey was there to help promote the P7s Children in Need fundraising events at Papdale and also to say hello to all the children who were very excited to have such a famous celebrity in their midst.
Pudsey shook lots of hands and even did the Usain Bolt victory salute before leaving to continue with his busy schedule.

Meet Buddy the Bear, our new school uniform champion!

To try encourage children to wear their school tops a new 'pupil' arrived at school today. He is 'Buddy' the giant Teddy Bear, who loves wearing his special Papdale School red buddy top.

To help Buddy settle in at Papdale he will be staying with the class who win the monthly challenge and have the most children wearing school tops. Not only would Buddy stay in their classroom but he could also go with the class to the Business Meeting to catch up on all the school news!
The winning class would also have to bring Buddy back at the end of the month and do a short 'Buddy Broadcast' Presentation at the business meeting to tell us why everyone should wear a school top to school.

Buddy checking out the Papdale School website.
For more information on our school tops visit our  school uniform website page to get details of the range and cost. We also have a small range of free second hand school tops available from Papdales 'Topshop' in
the school foyer which were kindly donated by parents. These tops are free of charge or you can make a voluntary donation towards school funds. We would also like to encourage parents to donate any school tops their children have outgrown to increase our Topshop selection.
For more information please ask at the school reception.

Eco Club reminder about our Eco Code and Targets

Papdale's Eco Club Members 2015-16
The Eco Club members spoke at our Business Meeting reminding everyone about our Eco Code and the Eco Action Target areas.

We would like to remind everyone about our ECO CODE.
We will give you a hint it is three simple words beginning with
L – T – E    (LOVE THE EARTH)

L – T – E also stands for three Eco Action areas which we are working on.
L for Litter - T for Transport - E for Energy

Try to remember:
LOVE THE EARTH - LITTER, TRANSPORT, ENERGY

FACTfinders gets the Infant Hall bouncing!

FACTfinders (Fathers and Children Together) held their November meeting in the Infant Hall to accommodate two big bouncy castles. The dads had their work cut out keeping tabs on the children as they raced between the castles having loads of fun. Everyone stopped briefly for a snack before choosing between another session on the bouncy castles or a game of football in the ball court.Unfortunately the session was over before the dads could have their turn!

FACTfinders meets  on the first Sunday of every month between 2-4pm usually in the Life Centre, East Road and is open to all primary aged children providing dad comes along too.
