Fairtrade School Uniforms?

At last Friday’s P4-7 assembly we had visitors, Andy and Pamela who came to speak to us about Fairtrade. Andy from Koolskools spoke to us about Fairtrade products. He spoke to us about how the cotton in the fields become a jumper that we wear, how long it takes, how many factories it has to go to.  Andy introduced Pamela who now works for CraftAid.

Pamela was a lady from Mauritius who spoke about her life before CraftAid. She described working very long hours for little pay.  Her story was a very sad one.  She now works for CraftAid and has a much better life with lots of happiness because she is getting a fairer pay and working hours.

Andy and Pamela came to show us some of her products that the factory she works which makes Fairtrade school uniforms.

Andy was impressed by how well we listened and the quality of our answers and questions.  We could have gone on talking for far longer.

Today is the start of Fairtrade Fortnight.  Pamela said, “You just need to buy one Fairtrade product and this saves a life and makes it better.”

Together we can make a difference!

New Furniture for the Dining Hall

During the February mid-term break we accepted delivery of our new dining hall furniture which replaces the old tables and chairs. The new tables come with fixed blue stools attached which should ease the flow of children in and out of the dining hall and puts an end to chairs scraping across the hall floor. The tables are also very easily moved and set up which will be much kinder on the kitchen staff too.

The calm before the storm!

Somewhere over the crisp bag!

The Eco Club looking justifiably happy with their efforts

When the Eco Club set their sights on an action target they always deliver!
Only two weeks after starting to collect crisp bags the rainbow was completed in some style. It will be put to good use in the KAOS production of the Wizard of Oz so if you have tickets for that keep an eye out for the Papdale Eco Club Rainbow's appearance on stage.
